Where does our time go in life? When is enough, enough?

I was literally just saying to my husband in our home office this morning

” I don’t feel like there’s enough time ” Life has a way of crowding REAL life out huh?

I came across this book ” Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the busyness of life ” Which felt like a breath of fresh air to me. You know that story, where Mary is at Jesus’s feet and Martha is too ” busy ” doing all the ” work “. Martha gets mad at Mary for just sitting there, but Jesus is happy with Mary. Sitting at the feet of Jesus. The life of a woman today isn’t really all that different from that of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. But like Mary, you rather and long to sit at the Lord’s feet…but the daily demands of a busy life just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve Him…yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and even feelings of inadequacy. Then comes Jesus, right into the midst of your busy Mary/Martha life-and he extends the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters of Bethany. Tenderly he invites you to choose “the better part”-a joyful life of “living-room” intimacy with him that flows naturally into “kitchen service” for him. How can you make that choice? With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story and its so creative, practical strategies, Joanna shows how all of us-Marys and Marthas alike-can draw closer to our Lord, deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.

This is an invitation for every woman who doesn’t feel that she is Godly enough… loving enough.. doing ENOUGH. What a refreshing thought. Joanna wrote this book with great humor, depth and passion. I long for more of a ” Mary-heart ” then the ” Martha-heart ” which is so much easier to become. Jesus says we are ENOUGH, and through this book I found and I’m sure you’d find too a refreshing word to your life.

Tired of being a Martha, Sit at the feet of Jesus.
